Being a white person in America with our own peculiar double consciousness is a bit like that. We have two contending souls within us, one of collaboration with oppression and the other one of resistance to it.

It is known to be an accidental discovery. He actually intended to go to Asia but he completely lost the route and went elsewhere. It is said that he and his crew had to travel for days together without finding any land area. It is said that it was approximately 30 days before they could find any land area and the land area that they found turned out to be America.
It has always Comics studies taken powerful social movements to move this nation forward. Where would Lincoln have been without the abolitionist and free soil movements? Where would Roosevelt have been without the labor movement and the CIO (Congress of Industrial Organizations)? Where would JFK and Lyndon Johnson have been without the civil rights movement and organizations like SNCC (Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee)?

History is just a collection of stories. So teach it that way! Stories stick in kid’s minds but facts and dates don’t.
So, Parents, as teachers of the rising generation, how do you make history relevant? As exciting as these stories are, if we don’t learn how to apply them to our day, then we can’t be the epic heroes we need to be, and rescue our sacred and endangered heritage. We’ve got to think!
